On 1–2 June 2026 the Office was represented at the High-Level Regional Meeting on public service and health workforce development, held at the Pullman Hotel in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire and hosted by the Health and Public Service Network of Africa. Mr Lansana M. Kromah, Officer for Trade and Commerce, attended as an observer and guest of honour on behalf of the Commissioner, Hon. Jallahqueena H. Konneh.
Delegates came from nine countries — Liberia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Benin, Central African Republic, Guinea, the Gambia, Senegal and Nigeria — and included government officials, health experts, civil society and development partners. The meeting was chaired by Dr Josiah F. Joekai, Jr., Director General of Liberia’s Civil Service Agency and Chairman of the network.
Sessions covered regional challenges in health workforce and public service systems, a policy package for strengthening community health programmes, and the integration of community health workers into civil service systems. Mr Kromah held side meetings on strengthening public institutions, improving service delivery and building a resilient health workforce.
