Reporting line

The Office reports to the President's Office through the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs. Policy direction comes through that line. This site is maintained by the Office; content touching Liberian investment law is verified with the National Investment Commission (opens in a new tab on a website this Office does not control) or the Ministry of Commerce & Industry before it is published.

Strategic objectives

Six objectives, set by the Commissioner. They are what the Office is measured against; the four services are how they turn into work you can actually ask for.

  1. Expand trade in both directions. Help Liberian producers reach Canadian buyers and meet Canadian requirements, and help Canadian businesses find Liberian suppliers and markets.
  2. Attract investment that lasts. Present Liberian projects to Canadian and international investors accurately enough that the ones who proceed do so with their eyes open, and stay.
  3. Deepen the government-to-government relationship. Sustain working contact with Canadian federal, provincial and municipal institutions, financial institutions and development partners, so that a Liberian request has somewhere to land.
  4. Support Liberian businesses and entrepreneurs. Back entrepreneurship, skills and technology transfer, and help Liberian firms build partnerships that outlive a single contract.
  5. Build partnerships in the priority sectors. Agriculture, infrastructure, energy, education, healthcare, manufacturing, technology, housing, transportation and tourism — and the Canadian universities, agencies and foundations whose technical assistance and financing reach them.
  6. Hold the standards that make the rest credible. Every engagement follows established government protocol and a proper line of authority. An office promoting investment has nothing to sell but its reliability, so this objective is not decoration on the other five — it is the condition for them.

Measured by what results: investment mobilised, trade expanded, jobs created, technology transferred, partnerships that are still running a year later.

How we handle what you tell us

Every enquiry is assigned to a named officer and acknowledged within two business days. Enquiries move through a recorded pipeline: received, qualified, assigned, in progress, referred to the National Investment Commission or another partner where appropriate, and closed. You can ask us at any point who owns your file and where it stands.

Office note. For clarification on any questions, comments or concerns regarding our role and responsibilities, please contact us and our team will be happy to assist.

Standards this site is held to

  • Content is published in English and French. A page whose French has not been reviewed by a professional translator is not published in French rather than shown to you in English without saying so.
  • Pages meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. An independent audit is completed before launch; our own testing is not treated as sufficient evidence.
  • Every factual claim carries a source and a verification date.
  • Every page shows when it was last changed.

To raise a policy question rather than a commercial one, write to the Office and mark it for the Commissioner.
